Gabe & Kaitlyn
There are some wedding days that feel extra special from the moment you arrive, and Kaitlyn and Gabe’s wedding day in Milford, Iowa, was absolutely one of them.
Kaitlyn and Gabe currently call Wyoming home, but when it came time to get married, they knew there was something meaningful about coming back to Gabe’s childhood church, St. Joseph Catholic Church, to say their vows. There’s something so beautiful about choosing a place that holds so much history and family meaning, especially when you’re beginning a brand-new chapter together.
And let me tell you—this was a HOT Iowa summer day.
But somehow, Kaitlyn and Gabe never let the heat steal a second of their joy. They were genuinely some of the sweetest people, and no matter how warm it got, they just kept smiling, laughing, and soaking in every moment of their day.
As if the heat wasn’t enough excitement, their wedding happened to fall right in the middle of Milford’s Pioneer Days celebration. The town was buzzing, which meant their wedding day came with a little extra energy and excitement. And honestly? I loved it.
Not everyone can say they had a parade happening right outside their wedding ceremony!
It was one of those unexpected details that made their wedding day uniquely theirs. There was something so fun about stepping outside and seeing the town celebrating all around them while they celebrated one of the biggest days of their lives.
I also had so much fun getting to know the people who helped make this day possible. Weddings are always about the couple, of course, but they’re also about the people standing beside them—the family, friends, vendors, and loved ones who have helped shape their story. Getting to spend the day around so many wonderful people made photographing their wedding even more enjoyable.
After the ceremony and all of the Pioneer Days excitement, everyone headed to the Okoboji Conference Center for the reception.
And WOW.
The reception space was absolutely gorgeous. The ceiling was covered in twinkling lights and draped in white fabric, creating the dreamiest atmosphere for the evening. It was the perfect setting for celebrating Kaitlyn and Gabe and all the people who had come together to support them.
And then there was the food.
The food was amazinggggggg.
Seriously. It deserves its own mention.
And, of course, DJ Stovetop absolutely killed it—as always. The dance floor was full, the energy was high, and it was the perfect way to finish such a fun day.
Even though we were all melting from the Iowa heat, Kaitlyn and Gabe never stopped smiling. Their happiness was contagious, and it was so obvious throughout the entire day just how loved these two are.
From returning to Gabe’s childhood church, to getting married during Pioneer Days, to having a parade outside their ceremony, to dancing the night away under a ceiling of twinkling lights—it was a wedding day filled with so many little details that made it completely and unmistakably Kaitlyn and Gabe.
I’m so grateful I got to be there to photograph it all.
Kaitlyn and Gabe, thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding day. It was such a joy getting to know you, your families, and everyone who helped make your day so special. I hope when you look back at these photographs years from now, you can feel all of it again—the laughter, the heat, the excitement, the love, the parade, the dancing, and all the people who surrounded you as you started this next chapter together.
Congratulations, you two.
